MEL/ARCH architectural studio is a progressive architecture firm based in Fort Worth Texas, focusing on green design and zero energy buildings for both commercial and residential projects.

Being a Texas transplant, founding partner Matthijs Melchiors combines his unique Dutch heritage with local and regional standards. MEL/ARCH Studio sculpts its building designs through an abstracted poetic approach, while adhering to its core principle of sustainable design. Building in harmony with nature and soul creates spectacular place both timeless and divine.

MEL/ARCH strongly believes in protecting and preserving our environment. This starts with sensible and environmentally sound design. We continuously study new emerging design and sustainability trends and solutions in order to bring our clients the most advanced and well planned project. All of this to leave a better environment for our future generations.

MEET THE TEAM

Matthijs, AIA, NCARB Founding Partner

Matthijs is a resourceful architect with an innate ability to think outside the box to generate design solutions that maintain the objectives and aesthetic intent of the client, while pushing the envelope of modern day design philosophies. His knowledge base in green design and ability to use simple and sustainable materials to create eloquent, cost effective design solutions make him a great option for clients or teams in need of architectural services.

Matthijs received his Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of architecture, and is licensed to practice throughout the state of Texas.

Jie, ACCA Chief Financial Officer

Jie is a very creative and multi-faceted individual. Her extensive knowledge of finance and business strategy experience in architectural services and construction management makes her a key asset to the industry. Her keen insight and ability to track and evaluate business trends allows her to gain a competitive edge within the architectural and design community. Being an excellent communicator/observer and listener, Jie naturally draws the attention from anyone around her.

Jie received her Bachelors of Applied Accounting from the Oxford Brookes University in England, and is licensed Chartered Certified Accountant.

J. Michael, AIA Emeritus, NCARB

Michael has extensive and varied experience in multi-family and affordable housing developments, educational and neighborhood design, project management and responsiveness to clients. He has held positions from designer, project architect, principle-in-charge, Vice President and then founder and managing member of his own firm.

He is enthusiastic and committed to achieving excellence in every project with the aim of exceeding the expectations of clients. He also served as an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association’s Construction Panel.

Michael received his Bachelors of Architecture from University of Kentucky, College of Architecture where he was fortunate to have studied under Daniel Libeskind and also Jullian de la Fuente.

Nathan, Project Coordinator

Nathan is a diligent architecture designer with a mindset for innovative solutions while having the ability to serve in a collaborative capacity. He is passionate about building strong relationships while honoring core values of the design space.

Nathan received a Bachelors of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2022

Ramiro Rodriguez, Project Coordinator at Mel/Arch Studio

Ramiro, Project Coordinator

Ramiro is a meticulous designer who strives to keep an open mind in each design to meet the needs of all occupants. His attention to detail brings integrity to each design while expressing a unique beauty to the surrounding environment.

Ramiro received a Bachelors of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2022.

Alexis Ledesma, Project Coordinator at Mel/Arch Studio

Alexis, Project Coordinator

Alexis is a proficient designer, ready to adapt and evolve with each design. He is always looking for ways to bring innovative and creative solutions to design challenges.

Alexis received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2022.
