The term Connex is derived from the dictionary term "Conex" which means shipping or cargo container. Connex is a micro office and retail venue made out of 40 shipping containers. The units are stacked in an architectural interesting way to signify public and private spaces. The building is a zero energy building meaning that all the power needed to operate is generated by a 21.5KW solar array on the roof. Connex furthermore has vegetated live roofs as well as permeable paving for the parking lot. The building strives to be as energy and environmentally friendly as possible. Thought the building recycled commercial materials were used.
